Wow. That is an awesome story! I love it when people do what is right for them with the wedding planning rather than what is expected. My hubby and I did the planning, but kept it on the cheap and got married in our backyard too. What started as a way to save money ended up being so perfect. We both value family so highly, so it was wonderful to open our home and our lives to our family. Much more meaningful than tradition.
