I have really found that bribery/rewards seems to work with my son. But that means that I have to be prepared to follow-through. So, instead of threatening to take something big away that I probably really wouldnt in the end, I have come up with creative rewards - usually for the whole week (but he is in 2nd grade - so may get the "week" concept). I also work full-time, so most of it is on the weekend.

A Saturday morning mom/son date to the library. Family trip to the movies. He picks the fast food. He picks the movie to rent. Etc. Things that don't cost a ton (except the movies - we suffered through the Squeakwel for 2 straight weeks of good behavior).

We also have a dollar tree where everything is really a dollar, and they have these boy or girl "grab bags" that are paper sacks full of junk. They seriously are my kids favorite treat ever.

There's an old mill just like that one that I've visited many times growing up that's just north of Batesville. It was always such a fun place to visit. You really make me miss HOME a lot!
