But that means that I have to be prepared to follow-through. So, instead of threatening to take something big away that I probably really wouldnt in the end, I have come up with creative rewards – usually for the whole week (but he is in 2nd grade – so may get the “week” concept). I also work full-time, so most of it is on the weekend.

A Saturday morning mom/son date to the library. Family trip to the movies. He picks the fast food. He picks the movie to rent. Etc. Things that don’t cost a ton (except the movies – we suffered through the Squeakwel for 2 straight weeks of good behavior).

We also have a dollar tree where everything is really a dollar, and they have these boy or girl “grab bags” that are paper sacks full of junk. They seriously are my kids favorite treat ever.
