Southern Fried Sundays

This was a challenging week for the Southern Fried family. Oh nothing major happened it was just an off week for BBC at school. Maybe it was because I was out of town the first part of the week or maybe it was because we had beautiful weather. I don’t know.

Sometimes I wish I could go back to that one year birthday moment (pictured above) and do some things a little differently. As a mother I always seem to take his misbehavior a little more personally and I internalize it. I carry around guilt. I know I shouldn’t but it is so hard to grow past it sometimes. Any mothers out there do the same?

I was going through some books and ran across a little book, Heartlifters for Mom by LeAnn Weiss. I got this book before BBC was born but never read it. Last night I started skimming through it and came across a chapter on Trusting. I knew the LORD was speaking into my heart. Here’s an excerpt…

“God gives mothers natural instincts for raising children. But He also gives spiritual wisdom. In those first reverent moments – knowing that when you look at your child, you’re looking at God’s child – you recognize the gift He’s entrusted to your care.

God gives mothers the kind of wisdom that transcends the desire to be a great mom. It’s wisdom that depends on the only One who could possibly love your child more than you do.

Deep within your heart, if you’ll listen, you just might hear a lullaby – God singing to you, His child, about trusting Him, His love, His will, and His guidance. It’s a sonnet of peace that assures you as a mom…while you are rocking the cradle, He is rocking the world!”*

These wise words were followed up with the following scripture collage…beautiful!

“I know the plans I have for you and your family. When you steadfastly trust in Me, I will keep you in My perfect peace. Even when your spirit grows faint, I know the way for you. I’m working in you to will and to act according to My good purpose. I’ll instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I’ll counsel you and watch over your family. Peacefully, Your Worthy God.”

Jeremiah 29:11; Isaiah 26:3; Psalm 142:3; Philippians 2:13; Psalm 32:8

I always feel better after sharing my heart here. I like to think of it as my free therapy. I pray my transparency on Sunday blesses others even if in the ever so slightest way. Not for my glory but for the glory of the LORD!

Have a blessed week!

Oh girl – with my second grader, we have been there! We go there a lot, which is hard because I know he is SUCH a good hearted person and a good kid. We get in a lot of trouble for talking & not wanting to stay seated.

I too, am always so upset around it. But PRAY about it!

I also read something great this week at simplemom.net about how we are not responsible FOR our children but TO them. It was a great read!

All of our kids have off days-and so do we!
You know, I deal with it all better by staying in the Word-like you are doing…
Renew your mind daily (Rom. 12:1,2) helps us moms be what God wants us to be-
And helps us be what our kids need us to be-
    :)
