Shelley – I made one cake in the classic batter bowl and another in a round pan. It’s 8 or 9 inches, I can’t remember.

I leveled off both cakes and sat the batter bowl cake upside down on the edge of the round to give the rocket more height. Then I trimmed around and used portions of the leftovers to make the wings. I made a quick icing (water, powdered sugar, shortening and almond/clear vanilla extract) to glue it together and ice it. We finished it off with m&m’s.

It was pretty simple if you aren’t trying to impress anyone other than your boy AND especially if he is helping. hahaha

I am so impressed. :) I can’t believe he’s 7 either!!! Would you recommend Despicable Me for a 5 and 3 year old? My 3 year old will sit through Disney-length princess movies, but I didn’t know if the plot is appropriate for littler kids. My oldest laughs at the commercials, so I was curious. I’ve heard good things about it!
