Don’t you just love to entertain? I find it is so much fun to serve others in my home. Someone told me the real definition of entertaining is making your friends jealous – ha! When entertaining it is important to take into consideration height, color and texture when presenting your table and/or buffet. That makes a lot of sense and seems easy but if you are not paying attention, you might not think to add those small touches that make a big difference.
In my opinion, height is the most important of the three. A flat table is a boring table. There are several ways to add height – I love adding a pedestal with either food or a centerpiece. Here’s an example from a friend for a harvest presentation. Notice, too, how she mixed metals, glass, and other pottery to add even more interest.
If you don’t have a pedestal handy, you can use fabric over boxes, books, or whatever you have handy to get items off the table. Fabric is also a great way to introduce color and texture. Burlap and a brightly colored fabric bring interest to this Mexican themed presentation.
Yet another way to add height is with a tiered server. Isn’t this one gorgeous with the mixed metallic glass tiers?
