Out of the Mouths of Babes

A couple of Sundays back we went to Carinos for lunch. We had a bit of a wait and luckily there were seats available for our wait near the hostess. It just so happened to be next to a display of fake grapes and empty wine bottles.

BBC (keep in mind he is 4) was studying the display and he pointed to the grapes and asked DH, “What are these?” DH promptly replied, “They are fake grapes.” BBC was satisfied with that answer but then his attention turned to the empty wine bottles. “What are these?”, he asked? DH replied, “They are empty wine bottles.” BBC, “Hmmm, what is wine?” DH, “A drink.” BBC, “Can I have some?” DH, “No.” BBC, “Why?” DH, “Because it has alcohol in it.” BBC sat there a minute with a perplexed look on his face and then he said, “Well, Jesus and his disciples drank wine.” [hee hee] DH, “Hey, look at that picture over there…”

Hey, at least he’s paying attention to what we are trying to teach him…
