It’s Time To Dish It Again…

It’s time to Dish It again with Amanda over at Serenity Now. This time we are talking about mommas and I’ve got plenty to say about mine!

This is my mom with my precious BBC. I couldn’t find many photos of her because she is usually behind the camera. I was able to find this artsy take on her admiring my boy at his second birthday party.

What’s the best thing about your mom?
Can you feel the love and adoration in her face? That’s exactly how she made me feel growing up. Unconditional love – even when I didn’t deserve it.

What’s your relationship with your mom like?
I would be fibbing if I said I’ve always had a great relationship with my mom. I was a teenager once, ya know. Mom raised us in church and I was always a pretty good girl until I left for college. I sowed a few wild oats while there. I didn’t realize it then but our relationship grew stronger during those rebellious years. Now we are the best of friends. I see a lot of her in me now after all these years. She’s crazy, crafty, creative, chatty, and caring!

If there is one quality about your mom that you could emulate, what would it be?
I wish I was as sacrificially giving as she is. She cares for everyone and gives freely without question.

What’s the best advice your mom has ever given you?
When in doubt, do without.

Describe the most embarrassing outfit your mom made you wear when you were growing up.
I get my crafty gene from my mom. She made a lot of our clothes as children. Most of them were not too terribly embarrassing.

OK – they are looking at them now but back then we didn’t feel quite as embarrassed. Here’s an Easter dress that she made…

Probably one of the most embarrassing things she made me wear that she didn’t make was maroon tights with my green and gold gymnastics shirt. I’m type A – and type A people don’t like to clash colors – or at least I don’t. Yep – we are in the middle of Wal-Mart! (Is this good enough for you, Amanda?)

The absolute one thing I am most grateful for is that my mom raised us with faith. I may have sowed some wild seeds but as the Word says, teach a child…and she did just that. Thank you, Mom, for living out the example I should be as a mom. I pray I do half a good a job as you did!

Be sure to check out all the other posts over at the party!

What a great tribute to your mom! I know you’re grateful that you were brought up by a woman of faith. Even if she did make you wear maroon tights. :)

Your mom sounds like a very caring women. How great that your relationship with her improved while you were sowing those oats. That to me means she was very loving and nonjudgemental too.

Your post mirrors my own life.
I grew up in church and yet became rebellious in college. It took me six years to graduate. LOL!

My mother is also a very giving person. I most admire that about her.

    Wonderful tribute to your mother.

    Happy MOther’s Day!
