The Birds and Dogs?

I reported two weeks ago that this place had gone to the birds. Here’s an update on the House Finch family that have found home on my front door…

As of Sunday two babies had hatched. I caught this sweet picture.

Today it looks like there are at least four if not five hatched babies.

Here are some baby Mockingbirds in a bush near the garage. I love Mockingbirds – they have an ornery personality and their serenades are cheerful in the evening. I wasn’t quick enough to catch any other pictures of these babies – they became full-fledged quickly!

So interestingly, as my house has gone to the birds, my best friend’s house had gone to the dogs! She has two little Schnauzers. She (K) was babysitting her mom’s Schnauzer on Friday night. She went to dinner and a movie and came home to…

an extra dog in her house!!! Look at how huge it is compared to her tiny Schnauzers! Her back yard is fenced. The gate was locked.

The only explanation was that the dog dug under the fence and came in the tiny doggie door. I think she was lucky that she fit through the door without getting stuck.

K snapped a picture on her phone and went around to the neighbors to find the owner – she had never seen this dog before -ever! The neighbors behind her were watching the dog (foster type thing or something). They had the NERVE to to tell K she was scared of the storms and wanted her to keep the dog overnight. Let’s just say that didn’t happen.

So while I feel a little intruded upon by the birds on the front door I think I would totally freak out if I found a strange animal, friendly or not, in my home.

Has anything like this ever happened to you or someone you know?

p.s. Thank you to everyone that left sweet and encouraging words on my post last night. I needed them – each and every one! I’m feeling better focused today. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Those sure are cute baby birds! Do I understand you correctly? The neighbors wanted you to have their dog overnight so they sneaked her into your home?

That is hilarious!! I’d laugh about the dog, but be angry at the neighbors for expecting me to house it overnight. :s

We have a dog door, but nothing extra has came in, yet. We close it down at night, so the poochies don’t go out and start barking in the middle of the night, if they would hear something.
Glad to hear you are feeling better today :)
