Southern Fried Sundays

As we celebrate Thanksgiving in the U.S. this week I am going to make a conscience effort to maintain a thankful heart. If you are like me you may get caught up in trying to make everything perfect and lose the joy of the moment. Perfectionism is the enemy of hospitality. If you struggle in this area you may want to check out my post on hospitality and perfectionism earlier this year. The following passage of scripture also helps me keep myself in check:
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:8-10 NIV

Do you struggle with this, too? How do you keep yourself in check?

I wish many wonderful blessings upon you and your family this week!

A very Happy thanksgiving to you and your family my friend. Good words of wisdom. I am a “recovering”perfectionist of sorts.
I used to drive myself and everyone around me crazy by wanting everything just “so” then the Lord blessed me with a mentally challenged child and twins and I learned that I could not do everything All these years later It is still a challenge but I have relaxed and tried to just enjoy the moments. Often I have to repeat to myself “people are more important than my agenda” : )

I love your perspective in this post…this is something I’ve also struggled with in the past. It is true, as Debbie said, that people ARE more important than my feeling good about how things look, taste, etc. It’s not about me, it’s about people enjoying people….and sharing real, true fellowship! Thanks for sharing and encouraging REAL thanksgiving…or thanks”living”!
