Christmas Home Tour 2010

Welcome to my official Christmas Home tour! I’m actually still working on the final touches of everything but had time to snap a few pictures for the tour.
I usually go big and bold on my front door with metallic red and bright green poly mesh and ornaments. This year I decided to tone down my garland a bit. Instead of using poly mesh, I decided to use plain old burlap in the same way that I use the mesh. Then I added in just about every glittery red ornament that I own, lights, and pretty tone on tone red striped ribbon. I am pleased with the outcome!

The wreath is recycled from last year. I removed everything except the greenery wrapped around the grapevine wreath. Then I just started wiring in balls randomly leaving enough space for a big burlap bow. I love it.

As you walk in the front door you are greeted by a mix of greenery, more burlap ribbon, and sparkly green and red accents. This is similar to what I have done in past years but toned back a bit with the burlap and fluffier greenery.

To the right is the dining room. It is not presentable but here’s a look at what I have planned for the table. I should have the final pictures in a post sometime this week.

Walking down the hall you enter the kitchen. I still have a few fun things to add in here but right now I’m in love with my peep and peppermint centerpiece. This project morphed quite a few times in my head until I settled on this look.
I hot glued ribbon bows onto each peppermint and then looped a ribbon through the hat on the peeps.

It coordinates nicely with the peep and peppermint candle I made for our women’s ministry event last week. It looks lovely on this little shelf in the kitchen.
From the kitchen we circle around to the den. This is my favorite room to decorate because we spend most of our time in here. I like to sit in here at night with all the lights turned off except the tree. Our tree started off a little on the ugly side but I think we were able to give it new life with our decorations.
This is my favorite little corner nook because it has my favorite picture of BBC with Santa. I will probably display this picture at Christmas until he is at least 42.
From the tree we see the mantel. Much like the door and banister, I decided to tone down and simplify this year.
This is the second version of the season. I’m a tweaker. Are you? I will tweak until the day this stuff gets packed up again for next year. It’s a sickness.
I got the idea to display favorite Christmas cards under cloches from one of my Southern Living Christmas idea books. I decided to up it a notch or two by adding height to the displays. The red pedestal is a bowl flipped over with the plate on top. The bronze pedestal is actually a footed bowl. I love how this vignette turned out!
I can’t do a Christmas tour without showing off my Holy Family. I like to display it with a cross to reflect the full picture of my faith. I have a full nativity set but for some reason I have taken to just displaying Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus. I think it is super sweet.
Finally, I wrote a fun little message on a platter and hot glued a funky Santa to the plate. This is on my foyer table along with a few other Santas. I’m sure the message will change often because BBC (being the little stinker her is) likes to erase it when I’m not looking. It makes for a fun game and fun memories, too!
Wow – that’s a lot of pictures for one post. I hope you have enjoyed the tour! I can’t wait to head over to Nester’s linky party and see other beautifully decorated homes! I’m also linking up with Kelly @ Kelly’s Korner – another Arkansas gal. Merry Christmas!!!
