Monday Hodge Podge

What a weekend! This time of year is fun but hectic. Here are a few highlights…

I finally redeemed my certificate for an Oil Portrait that I earned earlier this year for meeting sales and leadership criteria. I got it this weekend and I love it! I wish we still offered these!

This is the original picture from which the painting was made. I gave them tweaks to make in the picture – make his sweater solid except the train, take out the building, add lots of texture, etc. I think they did a nice job. I have one more to redeem and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Speaking of BBC, at the craft fair this weekend he negotiated the purchase of a wooden pop gun. I couldn’t resist because I remember how much fun I had with these types of toys as a child. As soon as we got home he went out in the back yard to shoot the feather caps. He came running back in and said, “Momma, I need to tell you something. I was just outside having great fun with my feather popper…

And now they are all on the roof. I tried to climb on the table and swing over to get them but that didn’t work. Can you please get the ladder?”

That boy never ceases to entertain me OR keep me on my toes. As it turns out they were just on the roof above the bay window. A simple sweep of the broom and he was back in business. I still get a good giggle about this little scenario.

The craft fair was OK. My crafts generated a lot of buzz and I handed out several cards hoping they will turn into future sales. I did find new homes for a few things and that is always nice. I will be listing items on etsy hopefully later today.

I keep running into bits of drama these days. I guess that just comes with the territory sometimes. I try to be friendly, helpful, and gracious in everything I do. I know I fail at times and I guess not everyone operates this way. I just can’t believe how ugly people can be to one another. Because it seems I am being tested in this area these days, I feel the need to publicly profess and follow this verse to help me in these situations: “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” Psalm 103:8 NIV

Do you have any other scriptures that help you when faced with unsolicited drama in your life?

I hope you have a blessed week!

My favorite one and often “sticky noted” to my computer is: May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight oh lord… from
Psalm 19. It makes me think twice about what I might say or how I will respond in a certain situation Have I perfected this? Heavens no but I do try : )
