January Mantel

This year after Christmas I was really confused as to what I wanted to do with my home decor. Usually I change out every month or so and have fun with the season and/or holidays. I have had the desire to keep things simple the past few months.

I hit the after Christmas sale at my favorite local boutique, Park Hill Home. The owner did a lot of nature-inspired Christmas decor this year so I scooped up several botanical and bird inspired items at quite a bargain. I wasn’t ready to go full-swing spring in January so I settled on a winter white and green look for the mantel. To me this says, “I’m looking forward to the future yet I’m grounded in the here and now.”
I have also gotten lazy, I mean resourceful, by using staple pieces over the past few months. I’m not tired of these candlesticks on the mantle, yet. So I just keep changing out their accessories and trucking on.

Need some additional inspiration? Head over to Beth’s Winter Mantel Party and check out how other folks are styling their mantels.

What is your mantel philosophy these days? Are you ready for spring decor?

Thanks for stopping in to {twenty}something. I think we have the same black Pottery Barn birds. Also, I LOVE the fabric on your huge ottoman. Thanks for sharing!

I’m inspired by people who change our their decorations! My mantle rarely changes … but it is also a little droopy and I need to get it stabilized! Maybe once I do that I can work on beautiful mantle displays like you!

Girl, you are one gifted manteler (that is my made-up word for people who are good at doing mantels). ;) And I love the ottoman/coffee table in the last pic. Very cool! :)
