Saint Patrick’s Day Decor

I’ve been trying to come up with the perfect post to re-launch my blog. I’ve written a host of posts (say that five times fast) since the first of the year and none of them felt right. I’ve worried and fretted and analyzed for far too long. I woke up this morning and decided I’m just going to go for it by posting a few fun pictures and adding a few simple words. As luck would have it, it’s Saint Patrick’s Day which makes this plan even easier. Here are a few simple door and home decor ideas for this lucky day.

I’ve been on a metal door decor kick over the past several months. There are several crafty folks around town that make these cute decorations at very reasonable prices. I really like the shading on this lucky shamrock. One word about metal door hangings – they bang around on the door and that can be annoying. I stick a 3M Command Velcro Strip near the bottom of the hanging to secure it to the door. (I have not been compensated for this in any way – just sharing a handy tip).

Use what you have for a quick and easy mantel update. Gather up a few green things from around your home (green plant, green book, etc.) and layer them together. One of my favorite ways to add a little holiday cheer on the cheap is to write on plates with dry erase markers. It’s fun to play around with font and spacing. It’s also a simple way to engage your children.

Get crafty and have fun. Here’s a wreath I made for BBC’s teacher last year. It’s a foam wreath form with gold coins hot glued in layers hanging from a rainbow ribbon.  This is a quick and easy project to bring a little Saint Patrick’s Day cheer to any space. Alternatively it can be used at Halloween as part of a Mr. T costume. I pity the fool!

How do you add Saint Patrick’s Day cheer to your home?

Love the coin wreath-so clever. Also, I never thought to use dry erase marker on plates. Love the Kiss me plate.
