This Place Has Gone to the Birds!

spring decorations

It’s no secret that I love to bring nature into my home decor. This spring I have added a few more bird inspired items. You can’t turn a corner without seeing a bird, a nest or eggs! This is my new centerpiece for the breakfast nook. I love that pot with the birds perched on the side. I can’t believe I have managed to keep my rabbit’s foot fern alive for a year (sure hope that doesn’t jinx it).

I tucked a few of the leftover twirly twigs from my other centerpiece and a nest inside, added my favorite cloche and instant cuteness abounds!

In the den the birds decided to nest in the hurricane! The spring green reindeer moss adds the perfect touch. I love how the eggs play off the color of the vase as well!

My throne even has a bird picture on it! (Do you like the halo effect – very princess-like, eh?) Anyway, that bird picture is a $1.00 frame from the Goodwill store with a postcard from my dear friend, Kimberly.

Remember this natural door decor that I put up in April?

Some rascally birds decided to do this…

I don’t want to be responsible for taking four young, innocent lives, so I guess I am forced to live with this wonderfully pitiful door decor until these youngsters are ready to fly the bucket. Ugh. We’ve had them on the door before and they are MESSY.

I was able to chase them away last year before they nested but was out of town while they did this magic. That nest has a LOT of trash in it – I think this momma bird is a hoarder.

Anyway, I guess they are cute despite the hassle and mess. I think I can safely say this place has gone to the birds for now! I wish I could relocate the bucket without disturbing them too much. Do you have any suggestions?

I love the cloche! We have a little bird problem, too, on our front porch. Every single year, birds nest in one of our columns at the very top. It’s always the same column. Must be more homey there than the other three. It’s always really messy, and the last couple of years, we’ve had a casualty. A little baby fell out of the nest. Hard to explain to a four year old.

I love your bird-themed decorations! I found an abandoned bird nest just yesterday that I was thinking about bringing in (and Lysoling the heck out of). Thank you for the inspiration! And thank you for stopping by my blog. :)

I love all your birds. The cloche makes a great table centerpiece for the breakfast room.

Love the bird, nest and eggs decor! I have a thing for birds too! I have no idea if it is possible to move a nest at this point…I think you might be stuck until they hatch, learn to fly and flee the porch! lol

Bwahahaha…laughing about the hoarding comment! Before I read the part about the birds doing that, I was wondering, “Why would she put a nest down in there where no one will see it?” ;)

I have a finch nest outside my back door. They are noisy and messy. They also stare at us when we go outside. I don’t think they like us on *their* deck. :s

I too have birds nest tucked around my home this spring. I love how you’ve brought the outdoors in!
